Backer Rights
If you pledged on a Kickstarter project that uses StoryForge Pledges, you have rights over the data we hold about you. This page explains them in plain English and tells you how to use them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (UK GDPR, EU GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, or another jurisdiction with similar laws), you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a portable format.
- Rectification — fix data that is wrong (address typo, wrong name, etc.).
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data when there's no longer a legitimate reason to keep it. Note: if you have an unfulfilled reward, the creator may need to keep your address until shipping is complete.
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including profiling. We do not profile backers.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format and have it sent to another service.
- Withdraw consent — for any processing where consent was the lawful basis (e.g. marketing email opt-in). Withdrawal does not affect processing already done.
- Complain — to your local data-protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
How to use them
The fastest way is to email us with:
- The email address you used on Kickstarter (so we can find your record).
- The name of the project, if you know it.
- Which right you are exercising (access, deletion, etc.).

We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before releasing data — we will do this by sending a confirmation link to the email address on file. We will not ask you for sensitive information by email.
Self-service options
Some things you can do yourself without contacting us:
- Find your survey — every backer can confirm and edit their address up to the creator's lock date via the survey link emailed to them. Lost the email? Look up your survey with your Kickstarter email.
- Unsubscribe from email — every transactional email has an unsubscribe link at the foot. Note: you cannot unsubscribe from fulfilment-critical emails (shipping notifications) while you have an unfulfilled reward.
- Download your data — once you're verified into your Pledges Hub, you can export everything we hold about you as JSON.
Cookies & tracking
StoryForge Pledges sets one strictly-necessary cookie to keep your session alive while you are completing a survey or browsing your hub, and one preference cookie for theme. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on backer-facing surfaces. We do not embed third-party social pixels.
