Backer Terms
The terms between Arcana Capital Limited and you, when you confirm a pledge, buy an add-on, or pay for shipping through StoryForge. Our other Terms of Service are for creators — this is the one that applies to you.
1. Who you're dealing with
StoryForge Pledges is operated by Arcana Capital Limited (company no. 14090319), registered in England and Wales. StoryForge is our trading name. Full details, including our registered office, are on our contact page.
When you pay here, the payment is collected by us. Your card statement will show a StoryForge reference alongside the creator's name.
2. Your pledge and your payment here are two different things
This matters, so plainly: your original pledge was a contract between you and the creator, made on Kickstarter, under Kickstarter's terms. We can't change it, refund it, or see your card details from it.
What happens on StoryForge is a second, separate purchase — the add-ons, upgrades and shipping you choose here. That's a contract between you and us, and it's the one these terms govern.
We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Kickstarter PBC.
3. Your account
You need to be 18 or over to buy here. We don't ask for your date of birth and we don't knowingly sell to children. If you're under 18, ask whoever owns the card to complete the order.
We identify you by the email address on your Kickstarter pledge. Keep access to that inbox — it's how you get back into your pledge and how your rewards reach you.
4. Prices and what's included
- The price you see at checkout is the full price. Postage, taxes and any fees are included in the total before you're asked to pay. We don't add surprises on the last screen.
- Prices are shown in the campaign's currency. If your card is in a different currency, your bank sets the exchange rate and may add its own fee — that part is between you and them.
- Where sales tax or VAT applies to your country, it's included in the displayed price unless we say otherwise at checkout.
- If a price is obviously wrong — a decimal point in the wrong place — we'll tell you before charging you and you can walk away. We won't quietly charge the higher amount.
5. When the order becomes binding
Your order is an offer to buy. The contract forms when we email you a confirmation. That email is your receipt — keep it. If we can't fulfil something, we'll say so and refund that line rather than substituting it for something you didn't pick.
6. Delivery and dates
Creators fulfil their own rewards. We provide the software, the address collection and the manifests; the picking, packing and posting is theirs.
Any delivery window shown to you is the creator's estimate, not a promise. Crowdfunding slips — that's the nature of it. What you're entitled to is honesty about the slippage and a way out if it becomes unreasonable, both of which are set out in Cancellations & Refunds.
Addresses can be changed from your pledge page up until the creator locks the manifest for fulfilment. After that we can pass a change on but can't guarantee it lands in time.
7. Digital rewards
Digital files are for your own personal use at your own table. You can print them, mark them up, and use them in your games, including games you run for other people.
You can't resell them, upload them to file-sharing sites, or pass them around as your own.
The creator owns the copyright, not us. If a creator's own licence is more generous than this — many TTRPG creators are deliberately permissive — theirs wins.
We keep your downloads available in your library for as long as we reasonably can, but we can't promise forever. Download the files you care about.
8. Using the site sensibly
Don't do these things:
- Scrape, probe or attack the site, or try to reach another backer's pledge.
- Submit someone else's address or payment details as your own.
- Abuse creators or our support inbox.
If you find a security flaw, tell us at james@storyforgerpg.com and we'll thank you properly rather than sending lawyers.
9. Your data
Your name, email and address came to us from the creator's Kickstarter backer report so we could get your rewards to you. We explain exactly what we hold and why in our Privacy Policy, and how to see it, correct it, export it or delete it in Backer Rights.
We don't run advertising trackers on backer pages and we don't sell your data to anyone. See our Cookie notice — it's short, because there isn't much to say.
10. Emails
We email you about your pledge: confirmations, shipping notices, and the occasional message from the creator about the campaign you backed. Anything that's a reminder or a nudge has an unsubscribe link at the foot, and one click stops it. Receipts, download links and sign-in codes don't — an unsubscribe there would cut you off from what you paid for.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't lawfully be limited — death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or the consumer rights you cannot sign away. Your statutory rights come first and these terms are read subject to them.
Beyond that, our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to what you paid us for that order, and we're not liable for indirect losses like a cancelled games night.
12. Changes
We can update these terms, but the version that applies to your order is the one in force when you placed it. Material changes get an email and a new date at the top of this page.
13. Law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law and you can bring a claim in your local courts — this clause doesn't take that away.
